The Oboe

The oboe is a member of the woodwind family, but is different from most woodwinds in that it uses a double reed rather than a single reed. The oboe produces a distinct, beautiful, and big sound, with brighter, penetrative, clear tones - this is why there are a limited number of oboes in a band. Depending on the instructor, the oboe may not be offered to students every year.
