PERCUSSION
"Percussion" includes many different instruments. Along with the more common instruments such as snare drum, bass drum, timpani, and cymbals, percussionists also play mallet instruments such as bells, vibraphone, and marimba (pictured above). Because mallet instruments are similar to the piano, students who already play piano are preferred.
Important Note: Percussion is a very popular instrument with students. Because we must maintain well-balanced instrumentation in bands at all grade levels, it may be necessary to limit the number of percussion students we start each year. Thus, we encourage students to review all of the instruments that we offer because we may not be able to accommodate their first choice.
