🎶 Orchestra 🎶

We are very fortunate to have Mr. Scott Krijnen teaching our orchestra courses. Mr. Krijnen has taught at Castillero Middle School since 2005 and was a Presser Scholar from the University of Idaho. He earned his Master's in Cello Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, receiving the Chamber Music Music Award. In 2011, he was awarded Teacher of the Year at Castillero, and in 2016, he was named the Richard L. Levin Orchestra Educator of the year for the state of California. He has been the conductor and artistic director of the Cambrian Symphony since 2013 and was the conductor of San Jose State University’s “Summer in the City” for ten years. He has also been a guest conductor with Saratoga High School and the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, and recently became the musical director of the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra starting June of 2023.

We are so excited to share the upcoming school year with new and old friends and families! It will be an incredible year of music, performances, and unique learning opportunities. There are four orchestra groups at Castillero Middle School where students can participate in school concerts, community performances and spring music festivals.

For additional questions, contact Mr. Krijnen at skrijnen@sjusd.org or your Orchestra Representative Sharon Ng at baymama@yahoo.com. Sharon can also be contacted about volunteering opportunities throughout the school year.
