Comment from Mr. Krijnen:

Orion has incredible consistency and preparation as a violinist, which shows in his focus, diligence, and professionalism in rehearsal. His solo work was exceptional for the 4 Seasons Concert, and as a TA, he serves the entirety of the classroom with kindness and patience, including making great strides with one of our brand new students. He has gained the recognition from other teachers as they watch him work and support his student. His impact will continue to grow, and I am so proud of the person he is becoming!

How long have you been playing?

3-4 yrs

What sparked your interest in playing this instrument?

TwoSet Violin - a Youtube channel! The way they made playing violin fun and engaging had me immersed in the instrument. I’m really glad I stumbled across the channel.

What is your favorite musical piece that you've played?

Steel City Strut - I like how fast-paced it is, and the melody of the piece is really catchy.

What type of music do you most like to play and why?

Classical - I like the musical structure it has. Classical pieces usually have an overarching melody that is used multiple times but has different variations so they’re never repetitive or boring.

What is giving/gave you the most trouble while learning, and what advice would you give to others having similar difficulties?

I still need to perfect my spiccato bow stroke, perhaps by keeping my bow hand relaxed rather than tensed up. Practice makes perfect when you have difficulties.

Any words of wisdom or encouragement for your peers?

If you commit to your instrument, the results will show! Don’t give up!
