Comment from Mr. Krijnen:

Olivia has been an exceptional TA, supporting every student and taking extra time with the kids that need it. She is diligent, patient and unrelenting as she helps the students grow. Olivia can work with any level and finds a way to help them be their absolute best. Her kindness towards others and ability to be self-directed is outstanding and it has been wonderful to see her impact on the Beginning Orchestra, as well as the cello sections in both Avant and Chamber.

How long have you been playing?

1-2 yrs

What sparked your interest in playing this instrument?

I was mainly inspired by my friends and their older siblings saying that it was a life changing experience and that you will never forget the experience of playing in the orchestra.

What is your favorite musical piece that you've played?

Chicken Foot Transplant and Dragon Hunter!

What type of music do you most like to play and why?

I like classical because it's usually more challenging, and once I know it, I feel accomplished. I also like jazz because its more fun to play, and I have more fun and feel more connected to the music.

What is giving/gave you the most trouble while learning, and what advice would you give to others having similar difficulties?

I think my biggest problem was always being tight and needing to relax to fix my posture. So my biggest advice to someone dealing with the same thing would probably be that when you aren't focusing as much on the notes and stuff but feel the rhythm in your body, you will usually loosen up.

Any words of wisdom or encouragement for your peers?

Always try your best ,and when an obstacle comes your way, practice even harder to overcome it because once you do, you will be very proud of yourself!
